Peter Pearson

Peter Pearson began his musical career as a cellist in the Metro Detroit area where he studied under Marcy Chanteaux, the Assistant Principal of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Peter was also a member the Detroit Civic Orchestra, Dearborn Youth Symphony, Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp International Orchestra, and the Oakland Youth Symphony, where he won 2nd place in their annual concerto competition.

 

Peter then attended the San Francisco Conservatory of Music where he was awarded the Milton Salkind Scholarship. In addition to his studies at the Conservatory with Jean-Michel Fonteneau and Jennifer Culp, Peter received private instruction from Bonnie Hampton and Peter Stumpf. Peter also participated in masterclasses led by Menahem Pressler, Robert deMaine and Anthony Elliott. After receiving a master’s degree in Cello Performance, Peter moved to New York City where he works as a freelance performer and private instructor. He has performed in venues such as Carnegie Hall, David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center, and Radio City Music Hall.

 

Peter has also toured extensively in China, Australia, Europe and North America. He has collaborated with world-famous artists such as Sting, Third Eye Blind, 5th Dimension, and the band Chicago. Peter participated in The Mendocino Music Festival as one of their emerging artists from 2012-2013. He also attended the Academie Musicale de Morges, a summer music program in Switzerland devoted to chamber music. He is also an active musician playing in Broadway pits and made his Broadway debut in the orchestra pit of the musical ‘War Paint’ starring Patti LuPone and Christine Ebersole. ​

Most recently, Peter joined the band Haux on their European and North American tours where he also collaborated with artists Rosie Carney and Henry Jamison.
