SCHOOL PARTNERSHIPS

  • Fall, Spring, and Chamber Music productions open to all participating students and teachers.
  • Four (4) teacher / teaching artist professional development and planning sessions to create residency curriculum that supports student experience of concert repertoire (includes one year-end evaluation session).
  • 16 teaching artist classroom visits (12 music visits and 4 dance visits) with up to two guest artist visits from orchestra members or collaborating artists.

 

Teaching Artist Residencies

 

Orchestra of St. Luke's music and dance teaching artist teams currently work with classroom teachers in 32 classrooms in 3 schools in New York City.

 

Musician Coaching & Young Composers Program

 

Available upon request to schools whose music students and teachers seek professional coaching for performances or auditions, and composition instruction. OSL musicians, teaching artists and partner school music teachers collaborate to prepare music students to perform simplified versions of concert repertoire and compose original music compositions for performance and recording by OSL musicians.

 

FREE PERFORMANCES

 

Fall (Nov/Dec) Production:
Orchestra of St. Luke’s musicians offer performances of vibrant Orchestral repertoire. Collaborating artists may include professional choreographers, dancers, composers and conductors. Music students from OSL partner schools may be invited to participate. Current presenting hosts are the Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College and Brooklyn High School of the Arts.

Winter (March) Production:
Orchestra of St. Luke’s musicians offer performances of vibrant repertoire. Collaborating artists may include professional choreographers, dancers, composers and conductors. Music students from OSL partner schools may be invited to participate. Current presenting host is The Apollo Theater.

Chamber Music (May) Performances:
Orchestra of St. Luke’s musicians offer music for solo, duo and small ensembles. These programs are created in collaboration with select public schools and nearby museums and cultural institutions.

Family Concerts:
Orchestra of St. Luke’s Chamber Ensemble musicians offer repeat performances of chamber music concerts. Local art museums and other cultural institutions are presenting partners for these performances, which are hosted by St. Luke's partnership schools. The museums collaborate in planning repertoire to connect with art on exhibit during the concerts.
