
BACKGROUND & HISTORY
In response to the great need for space dedicated to classical music rehearsal, recording, and learning in New York City, Orchestra of St. Luke's created The DiMenna Center for Classical Music. This state-of-the art facility was realized through a visionary partnership with the City of New York; leadership support from Joe & Diana DiMenna, the Mary Flagler Cary Charitable Trust, and Victor Elmaleh; and the dedication of Orchestra of St. Luke's board of directors and staff.
Grand opening of The DiMenna Center
Orchestra of St. Luke's will begin a new chapter in its 37-year history when it opens The DiMenna Center for Classical Music on March 8, 2011.Groundbreaking
On May 14, 2010 over 100 friends, supporters and performers gathered at the DiMenna Center to celebrate the official start of construction in the building.Completion of schematic design
OSL assembles a first-call team to work on the acquisition, construction and development of The DiMenna Center. The team is comprised of Hugh Hardy of H3 Hardy Collaboration, A'kustiks, George Saxton, Igor Bienstock of ICOR Associates Inc. and Barr & Barr.Purchase of building
In November 2008, OSL purchases a 20,000+ square foot space for $16.6 million on the west side of midtown Manhattan in a building that is also home to the Baryshnikov Arts Center.Launch of Capital Campaign
The Fund for the Future is launched. The $50 million capital and endowment campaign supports the purchase, renovation, and operations of The DiMenna Center for Classical MusicFormation of consortium
