Golijov's award-winning chamber opera tells the tale of the murder of Spanish poet Federico Garcia Lorca by Fascist Falangist forces, as seen through the eyes of Lorca’s longtime collaborator, actress Margarita Xirgu. Conductor Robert Spano and soprano Dawn Upshaw lead a world-class cast in this depiction of Spain's brutal fight for political and artistic freedom.

The stars come out to celebrate the 80th birthday of distinguished composer, pianist and conductor André Previn, who leads St. Luke's in an evening of his own compositions. Superstar soprano Renée Fleming, longtime collaborator and inspiration Anne-Sophie Mutter, and charismatic violist Yuri Bashmet pay tribute in a program that includes the world premiere of the double concerto for violin and viola.
