Krista Feeney is a co-concertmaster of the Orchestra of St. Luke's and has been a member of the St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble since 1983. She performed the Mendelssohn concerto with the San Francisco Symphony at age 15, returning several times in concerti with them as well as with many orchestras around the country including the symphony orchestras of St. Louis, Elgin, Modesto, Sante Fe Pro Musica and the New York String Orchestra. From 1979-1991 she was founding member and first violinist of the Ridge Quartet, performing on four continents, collaborating with artists such as Benny Goodman, Rudolf Firkusny and the Guarneri Quartet, and recording for RCA Red Seal. She is a founding member of the Loma Mar Quartet, for whom Paul McCartney has written new works recorded by EMI on "Working Classical" and who have appeared as soloists with the London Symphony in a video of the same name. From 1999–2006, she was Music Director and Concertmaster of the New Century Chamber Orchestra, and in 2003, was appointed Concertmaster of Lincoln Center's Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra. Ms. Feeney studied with Anthony Doheny, then Isadore Tinkleman and Stuart Canin at the San Francisco Conservatory; Jaime Laredo and Felix Galimer at the Curtis Institute.
Highlights in 2008 include the world premiere of Terry Riley's triple concerto Soltierraluna (written for Ms. Feeney) with the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, and a recital at The New York Historical Society as a member of The Four Nations Ensemble. Ms. Feeney is also the featured soloist in St. Luke’s first arts education DVD release: Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons.
