WQXR AND ORCHESTRA OF ST. LUKE’S ANNOUNCE MEDIA PARTNERSHIP
FOR 2005-2006 SEASON
September 1, 2005: 96.3 FM WQXR, the New York Times Company radio station that is America’s most listened to commercial classical music station, and New York’s acclaimed Orchestra of St. Luke’s (OSL) have announced a media partnership for the 2005-2006 season that will include the broadcast of the St. Luke’s Chamber Ensemble’s three-concert series at the Brooklyn Museum, which will be hosted by WQXR on-air hosts; ongoing on-air promotions; and WQXR-sponsored concerts featuring St. Luke’s at such venues as The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Temple of Dendur and the New York Botanical Garden.
"The Orchestra of St. Luke’s is one of New York’s musical treasures, which makes this partnership a natural" said New York Times Radio President and WQXR General Manager Tom Bartunek. "And we’re looking forward to helping with St. Luke’s many activities throughout the city."
"As we look ahead to our 31st season in 2005-2006, this wonderful collaboration with WQXR helps us get the scope of all of our diverse activities before the public in a big way," said OSL President and Executive Director Marianne Lockwood.
The most recent collaboration of WQXR and the Orchestra of St. Luke’s was the orchestra’s first self-produced recording, Mozart’s Symphonies 39 & 41 led by OSL Principal Conductor Donald Runnicles, released in 2003, which was distinguished as a "WQXR Gold Star" disc.
