Orchestra of St. Luke’s, Director of Education
Orchestra of St. Luke’s seeks a Director of Education to manage its 37-year old program of educational partnerships and performances. The position reports to the President and Executive Director.
Responsibilities:
- is a member of the senior management team
- develops and oversees all education programs of Orchestra of St. Luke’s
- undertakes strategic planning, program development, and stays abreast of current trends in music education
- provides leadership for school partnerships, free performances, and community programs
- in consultation with artistic department, responsible for all aspects of repertoire and artistic personnel planning for all educational programs
- creates budgets and works with development, marketing, and PR to promote and grow educational activities.
Skills required:
- experience with arts education issues and practices as they pertain to music, including:
- curriculum development
- use and training of teaching or performing artists
- family and community involvement in educational programs
- use of technology in the service of education
- working directly with schools
- personal experience as a musician
- experience with fundraising, budgeting and management.
- strong management skills
- excellent oral and written communication skills
Compensation and benefits offered: Full time exempt position. Compensation commensurate with experience. Excellent benefits package.
